Tree Lawn Maintenance

Dear Trailside Metro District Residents,

As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain the beauty and health of our community, we would like to provide you with some important information regarding the maintenance of tree lawns and the removal of tree stakes. Tree lawns are the area between the sidewalk and the street.

Tree Lawn Maintenance:

  • Regular Care: Please ensure that the tree lawns around your property are regularly maintained. This includes keeping the area free of weeds, litter, and debris, as well as ensuring that grass and plants receive adequate water and nutrients.
  • Pruning: Please make sure all branches on the trees are trimmed to not block the sidewalk.
  • The tree in the tree lawn is the homeowner's responsibility to maintain and replace if the tree dies.

Tree Stake Removal:

We also want to remind you that if you have newly planted trees with stakes, it’s important to remove these stakes as soon as they are no longer needed. Stakes are typically used to support young trees until they establish a strong root system. However, leaving them in place for too long can hinder the natural growth and stability of the tree.

  • When to Remove Stakes: Generally, stakes can be removed after one growing season or when the tree shows signs of strong, upright growth. If you’re unsure, please consult with a local arborist or contact us for guidance.
  • Proper Removal: When removing stakes, be careful not to damage the tree or its roots. Gently pull out the stakes and any associated ties.

Maintaining the tree lawns and properly managing tree stakes helps ensure the long-term health and aesthetic appeal of our community.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping Trailside Metro District beautiful.
